A Trip of a Lifetime: Erica Dunbar Takes on the Tour du Mont Blanc
Fitness, Friendship and Finding Peace on the Trails
The trails seem to be calling our Fujifilm community lately! Following a few recent stories centered around trails and outdoor adventures, we’re excited to celebrate another inspiring accomplishment from Erica Dunbar of Fujifilm Biosciences in Santa Ana, California.
Erica and a group of four friends spent 10 days hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc, covering 105 miles and more than 34,000 feet of elevation gain as they traveled through France, Italy, and Switzerland. Along the way, they stayed in mountain huts, met fellow hikers from around the world, and took in spectacular views of rivers, waterfalls, and the surrounding Alps.
With limited backpacking experience, Erica wanted a way to challenge herself while getting a true taste of long-distance hiking and carrying a heavier pack. To help prepare for the demands of the trail, she completed the Mountain Climber Challenge through the Virtual Gym with Coach Rick, which helped strengthen her arms and legs for the journey.
But the experience gave Erica more than a physical challenge. With little to no cell service in the mountains—and far removed from the conveniences of everyday life—she found herself learning to unplug, take each moment as it came, and appreciate the peace and beauty around her.
Erica and the girls are already beginning to plan their next hiking adventure.
Congratulations, Erica, on an incredible goal accomplished! We love seeing how the Virtual Gym can help support our Fujifilm community as they prepare and do awesome things that extend far beyond the gym!
