Meet HYROX Champion Dylan Scott!
This June, our very own, Dylan Scott, became a world champion in the doubles competition at the HYROX World Championships hosted in Nice France. Dylan serves as an Industrial Athleticism manager and bodyfit trainer on the Suitcase of Courage team and leads nationwide programming and events for clients.
Have you heard of Hyrox? This form of fitness is a globally recognized competition that mixes strength-work with running. Think rowing, sled pushing, wall balls with 1km of running between each fitness station. The sport started in 2017 in Germany and has gained popularity in the last 7 years attracting the world’s best athletes to challenge their overall fitness, endurance, strength and mental fortitude. For Dylan, this is his niche.
Since 2020, Dylan has been training and competing, and has quickly gained a world ranking within elite athletes. He was introduced to Hyrox through their online virtual championships of fitness in 2020. Since then, he’s competed in the elite field at the four consecutive world championships in Leipzig, Germany, Las Vegas, Nevada, Manchester, England and most recently Nice, France where he took the top podium spot with his partner David Magida in the men’s 30-39 division.
“I was a decent runner, had decent capacity moving weights, and had a grinder mentality, but I was never that fast or strong, and being tough mentally only gets you so far. This sport, however, created a blend of demands that really suited my skillset and has allowed me to put that on display. I still like to do running races and other types of fitness competitions but, Hyrox is where I am in my bag.”
In his four years in this sport, what stands out to Dylan is how fitness brings people together. He’s inspired others with his consistency, positivity and being genuine. He attributes his success to the spirit of hard work, gratitude, and the village he surrounds himself with. Dylan continues to train for upcoming Hyrox competitions while being a champion for fitness and preventative exercise in the workplace.
